The Institute for Supply Management’s factory index rose to 51.4, up from 49.6 in August. (Measures above 50 represent expansion.) This outcome defied economists’ projections of 49.7, Bloomberg reports. U.K. and Chinese manufacturing both shrank.
U.S. Manufacturing Expands in September
