Tom Tugendhat is a serving officer in the British Army working today as the military assistant to the Chief of the Defence Staff, a role that requires strategic advice, outreach and contact across governments and militaries worldwide. He served in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan where he was decorated for his service. As a Reservist he has gone in and out of the Army and held other senior roles in the UK foreign policy world. Amongst other things he has been the adviser to the National Security Adviser of Afghanistan, the adviser to the Governor of Helmand. Tom has also worked in private business as a journalist, setting up a public relations company in Lebanon, running the delivery of currency in Iraq, as a management consultant and as an oil analyst.
