Nic Milani is passionate about human-centered design, especially when it comes to the role of technology in the workplace. As director of technology solutions at Herman Miller, Nic and his team are working with industry experts to develop solutions that reduce friction between humans and their technology. Within the workplace, these solutions enhance interpersonal interaction and naturally human behaviors. Nic, a mechanical engineer with experience in sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and product development, began his career with Motorola, Inc., where he obtained his Six Sigma Green Belt. During his time with Motorola, Nic lent his expertise to the development of technology products including autonomous vehicles, vehicle architectures, and microelectromechanical (MEMS) stability control sensors. He went on to become the vice president of marketing and business development at Havis Inc., where he focused on the user-centered design of mobile computing technology in police and utility vehicles. Nic and his team also educated customers on the impact that safety, comfort, and quality could have on a person’s productivity.
