Misiek Piskorski is a professor of strategy and innovation at IMD Business School in Switzerland, which he joined after 10 years on the faculty of Harvard Business School. He is the author of “Social Strategy: How We Profit from Social Media,”the first academic book to use large-scale datasets to show how and why people use various social platforms, such as Facebook or Twitter, and how small and large companies can leverage these platforms for competitive advantage. His latest research documents the fiercely competitive Chinese Internet market, looks at how the Chinese use their own social platforms, and examines how companies entering or operating in China should use the Internet to increase their profits.
