Michelle recently joined Google in 2011 as Director of Strategic Business Development for Asia. She is based in Singapore. Michelle is responsible for Google’s business development and partnership activities in Asia. This includes PC syndication, mobile syndication, distribution and content acquisition across Japan, China, Korea, India, Australia, Singapore and the rest of Asia Pacific. Michelle was Managing Director and Senior Advisor of Providence Equity Partners, the world’s leading private equity firm focused on media, entertainment, communications and technology, from 2007 to 2010. Michelle began her career in Asia at STAR, a media and entertainment company based in Hong Kong wholly owned by News Corporation, where she held a number of key executive positions since 2000, culminating as CEO from 2003 to 2007. Before this, she was Director of Legal and Business Development at FOXTEL in Australia. She began her career within media at BSkyB in the UK. Earlier in her career Michelle was a lawyer at Allen, Allen & Hemsley in Australia and Singapore. Michelle also serves as the Chair of Plan International Hong Kong, which is a global aid agency working on behalf of children in developing countries. Michelle was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and the Veuve Clicquot Hong Kong Businesswoman of the Year in 2005. Michelle is also a non-executive director of Metro International S.A. (since May 2010). Metro is the largest international newspaper in the world. Metro is published in over 100 major cities in 19 countries across Europe, North and South America and Asia. Metro has a unique global reach – attracting a young, active, well-educated metropolitan audience of 17 million daily readers.
