Kim Metcalf-Kupres is responsible for driving profitable growth and advancing marketing and sales capabilities across the enterprise. She directs strategy, innovation and business transformation for the company. Metcalf-Kupres also leads internal and external communications across the corporation.

Metcalf-Kupres has more than 30 years of multi-industry experience that spans all aspects of her current responsibilities. She joined Johnson Controls in the Building Efficiency business in 1994 where she brought a keen focus on the customer and a strategic approach to business growth. Over the next 12 years, she served in numerous leadership roles involving progressively greater responsibilities in channel management, business development, strategic marketing and various strategy to action initiatives.

She assumed a global leadership role in the Power Solutions business from 2007-2013 and held the role of vice president, sales and marketing, strategy and government relations. Under Metcalf-Kupres’ leadership, the business defined its strategies for global growth and built core competencies around commercial excellence and strategic marketing. She promoted global best practices, introduced new technologies and championed strategy development and commercial excellence across the business. Her consistent focus on customers, markets and new value creation helped to advance the Power Solutions business as a growth engine for the company.

She was appointed as the company’s first chief marketing officer in the company’s history in May 2013.

Metcalf-Kupres has a strong personal commitment to education and social services that promote personal empowerment. This passion inspired her involvement with Literacy Services of Wisconsin where she has served as a board member since 2009. In 2014, she also became a trustee of Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Metcalf-Kupres is also dedicated to diversity and inclusion efforts and the advancement of women and girls globally. She is a founding member and long time sponsor of the Women’s Resource Network at Johnson Controls. In addition, Metcalf-Kupres is actively engaged in gender parity work sponsored by the World Economic Forum and others.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in pre-law and English from Wayne State University and an MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
