Henrik Klagges studied physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich and computation at Balliol College, University of Oxford, from which he received an M.Sc.. He was a member of the IBM Physics Group Munich, where he worked on molecular modeling support for scanning tunnel microscopy experiments and algorithm design. At the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, he did a prototype port of the GCC2.0 compiler to the BBN Butterfly supercomputer. After Oxford, Henrik programmed the Unix Cockpit, a file manager for Unix systems, for which he won the “German Entrepreneur Prize” of the “German Entrepreneur Fund.” The software was eventually made available as open-source under the GNU public license. In 2001, Henrik co-founded TNG Technology Consulting, a high-end software development forge in Germany. He managed it to grow to over 170 mathematicians, physicists, and computer scientists, half of whom hold Ph.D.s. Already, the company has won the “Bavaria’s Best 50” prize twice. If he wasn’t so busy with TNG and his family, Henrik would go wind- and wavesurfing more often.
