Erika L. Chan joined U. S. Steel in January 2022 as the Corporation’s first General Manager of Sustainability. In this role, she has enterprise-wide responsibility for all aspects of the Corporation’s sustainability efforts, leading internal and external stakeholder engagement, development of metrics and key performance indicators, and preparation of the Sustainability Report and other key publications. Prior to joining U.S. Steel, Erika worked for Dell Technologies, a global digital technology company, where she was responsible for shaping the corporate sustainability strategy and advancing Dell’s long-term sustainability goals. Her work also included identification of opportunities to integrate sustainability practices into business units,

sustainability innovation, and measurement of the positive impacts of sustainability initiatives. In her role she partnered with customers, investors, analysts, suppliers, non-governmental organizations,

academia, and institutions. Before Dell Technologies, Erika led the Asia Pacific marketing team at The Nature Conservancy, a global conservation non-governmental organization, and she also practiced international development consulting at Deloitte Emerging Markets Group. Erika received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Resource Management and Business from The University of Texas at Austin. Erika serves on the Advisory Council of The University of Texas at Austin Environmental Science Institute and is an Advisory Board member of The Nature Conservancy of Texas.
