Douglas Gilstrap joined Ericsson in October 2009 as the chief strategist, which includes strategy, M&A, new business development, and joint ventures/partnerships. Douglas has a 25 year global career spanning accounting, M&A consulting, building and running global network companies, and now serving as Head of Strategy at Ericsson. He has experienced first-hand the data phenomenon on both the fixed and wireless side as well as running one of the leading data global operators and leading strategy at the foremost global wireless vendor. Prior to Ericsson, Douglas’s most recent telecommunications work was as head of Strategy at Cable & Wireless. Prior to that he was CEO of Radianz (now part of British Telecom) starting in 2000, where he led a team responsible for creating, building, and managing the world’s largest data financial extranet, providing a global IP network and hosting to the financial community. Previously, he was CFO and then COO of Equant Networks a public company. He was one of the founding management team members who grew Equant to become the world’s leading data/IP networking company serving the global Fortune 1000. He was directly involved in the private equity spin out, the IPO and secondary offerings and the eventual sale to France Telecom, which is now Orange Business Services. Douglas was a certified public accountant and management consultant before he went into the telecom industry in 1991 with his client SITA, the global data telecommunications network and hosting company for the airline industry. He holds a Bachelor in accounting from the University of Richmond and an MBA from Emory University in Atlanta.
