David built AnchorFree from the ground up into a global leader in consumer privacy and cloud security, with more than 250 million users downloading AnchorFree’s Hotspot Shield app globally across PCs, Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Android devices. AnchorFree was selected by Forbes in both 2013 and 2014 as one of “America’s Most Promising Companies,” and by Business Insider in 2013 as one of the “Most Important Security Startups.” David has raised $63 million in three venture-financing rounds for AnchorFree from blue chip investors, including Goldman Sachs, RENN Capital, former CEO of MCI Bert Roberts, former CFO of IBM Doug Maine, founder of WebEx Subrah Iyar, and Esther Dyson. David is an active investor and is passionate about startups with a social mission focused on solving real-world billion person problems through technology. David is an investor and board member at GlobeIn (a global marketplace connecting artisans from remote regions to buyers in the developed world) and Venturocket (a startup focused on connecting job seekers with jobs). He is an investor in Modern Meadow (a company focused on engineering cultured leather and meat from stem cells to solve global food challenges) as well as an investor and executive producer in the #ChicagoGirl documentary, which won the Amnesty International Award and multiple awards at the Amsterdam and Berlin film festivals. David served on the Technology Expert Council as an adviser to Gavin Newsom, the former mayor of San Francisco.
