Christina D. Smolke is Co-founder and CEO of Antheia, Inc. Antheia leverages advances in synthetic biology, informatics, and fermentation to transform supply chains around many of our most important medicines. Christina is also Associate Professor, Associate Chair of Education, and W.M. Keck Foundation Faculty Scholar in the Department of Bioengineering and, by courtesy, Chemical Engineering at Stanford University. Her academic research program has developed foundational tools that drive transformative advances in our ability to engineering biology. For example, her group has pioneered the development of microbial biosynthesis platforms for complex plant natural products, leading to transformative technologies for sourcing and discovering medicines. Christina is an inventor on 15 issued patents and over 9 patent applications, and has co-founded two companies based on technologies developed in her research group. Her innovative work has been honored with numerous awards, including Nature’s 10, AIMBE College of Fellows, NIH Director’s Pioneer Award, WTN Award in Biotechnology, and TR35 Award.
