Chip is co-founder and CEO of 2U. After graduating from The George Washington University, Chip founded Cerebellum Corporation to make childhood education more fun and accessible. Cerebellum developed the award-winning educational television program, Standard Deviants. After leading Cerebellum for a decade, Chip co-managed the re-election campaign of U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski. Mikulski won the election in a landslide and set a state record for campaign contributions. Chip then returned to education as the CEO of Hooked on Phonics, where he increased access to the product through distribution through major U.S. retailers. In 2012, Chip was recognized by E&Y as their Entrepreneur of the Year and was invited to join the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Education & Skills. In 2013, Goldman Sachs named him one of the world’s 100 “Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs.” Chip also serves on the board of the Network for Social Work Management. Outside of 2U, Chip can be found on the Chesapeake Bay with his wife and two sons. In his spare time, Chip is pursuing an MBA from the UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
