Dr. Janice Nickel is an innovator, visionary and catalyst. Her passion is seeing new, game-changing technologies reach fruition. Several companies have been founded on her ideas: PassingPlan, revolutionizing the experience of losing a loved one; NewCo, a (currently stealth) low-cost solution enabling safer operation of autonomous vehicles; and Janisys, a novel programmable intradermal drug delivery system.
Previously Dr. Nickel was corporate Fellow and VP at Hewlett Packard. She served as the company material expert on emerging memory technologies, advising C-level executives and HP Global Procurement on pipeline component products.
Dr. Nickel is an inventor on over 50 US issued patents, as well as numerous pending patents. Her inventions have won the 2008 Popular Science “Best of 2008” in Health category and the 2007 Emerging Technology Award in Medical Devices from the Silicon Valley Business Journal. She has served on the International Advisory Board of a prestigious multidiscipline conference (CIMTEC), and served on the advisory and steering committee for Magnetic Materials and Mechanisms conferences. She has given over two dozen keynote and invited talks.
