Drew Purves

Head, Computational Ecology and Environmental Science, Microsoft Research

Drew Purves is head of the Computational Ecology and Environmental Science group (CEES) part of the Computational Science Lab at Microsoft Research Cambridge, U.K. The goal of CEES is to develop predictive models of the ecological systems that comprise the Earth System, by inventing and applying new models and new scientific software tools. In addition to his role at Microsoft Research, Drew lectures at Cambridge University and is treasurer of the British Ecological Society. In 2014, Drew was named by Fortune Magazine as a “Big Data All Star.”
