Nir Erez: Tech Shouldn’t Be Limited to the Affluent

Techonomy 2018 speakers answer critical questions in an ongoing series: Nir Erez, co-founder and CEO at Moovit, a public transit data and analytics company.

In advance of Techonomy 2018, we asked our speakers crucial questions that frame our upcoming flagship event. Request your invite to join us this November in Half Moon Bay, CA.

Q: How big of a responsibility does business have to make the world more equitable?

Doing good in the world and maximizing shareholder returns are no longer mutually exclusive. Consumers are making purchase decisions with a social conscience layered onto their personal interest. It’s incumbent on businesses to meet this expectation.

Q: What emerging technology can have the greatest positive impact on society?

Miraculous advances in technology are giving people longer lives and a greater quality of life. But inequities abound. The greatest impact technologists can make is to solve problems for both highly affluent communities, as well as poverty stricken areas. Technology equality should not be limited to high GDP countries.

Q: What is the biggest issue that you worry is not getting enough attention?

In the U.S., it’s urban mobility. Americans love their cars and transit solutions do not get the mind share they deserve.
