Students are already using technology like smartphones and tablets to cheat on tests and homework, and, after recent scandals like the one at Manhattan’s Stuyvesant High School, some say we’re facing an epidemic. Cheating seems to be an unfortunate byproduct of increased acceptance of technology in the classroom.

But when Google introduces its “Project Glasses” in few months, it will get worse. These Internet-connected micro-computers are capable of communication and photo sharing with just a few tiny head gestures—and although the first versions are quite conspicuous, future versions will likely look just like regular, vision-correcting glasses. It will be interesting to see how educators and curricula adjust to an environment where test scores can’t be trusted—and whether standardized test requirements are also at risk.
