I spent years trying to digitize everything, trying to take everything from the real world and turn it into bits. At that time, bits were the new atoms. Now my company’s focus is to take all the digital data in a computer and make something tangible. With 3D printing you can pretty much make anything in any shape. If you lose your leg, you can get it back. It’s in your own morphology, and in the future we will print regenerative bone scaffolds so you can actually get the bone back. You can make your leg more beautiful than the original. Thomas Friedman said the world is flat, and when I shared a stage with him I said, “The world is not flat, the world is 3D.”
