Felipe is a senior executive with 20+ years of diverse experience in the Media and Financial Services industries. Specialties: Operations; strategy formulation; private equity (early and late stage); mergers & acquisitions; corporate finance (debt and equity capital raising); restructuring. Felipe has held senior positions in private media and financial services companies, in private equity and in investment banking.
Felipe is currently the President & COO of Fusion Media Group (FMG). He was the operating leader behind the roll up strategy of The Onion and Gizmodo Media Group (Gawker assets). In the months following the last acquisition he’s co-led the redesign of the organizational structure and the ongoing integration efforts. Prior to his role at FMG, Felipe was Executive Vice President of Digital and News Operations at Univision.
Felipe served as a Managing Director of the Latin America M&A and Merchant Banking Group at Banc of America Securities. He managed the NYC office of the Group. At Banc of America, he restructured, sourced, screened and co-managed the Group’s $300 million merchant banking. The portfolio included equity and mezzanine investments in media companies throughout Latin America.
Prior to Banc of America Securities, Felipe led the efforts of the Latin America Media Group of Salomon Brothers, executing the some of the most prominent equity private placements, IPOs and M&A transactions in the region at the time. Felipe was also Vice President in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Latin America Corporate Finance Groups at Salomon, focusing principally on cross-border transactions in the United States, Latin America, and Europe.
Prior to Salomon, Felipe was a Consultant in the Boston and Chicago offices of the Boston Consulting Group. Felipe worked on general strategy formulation projects with clients in the United States and Latin America.
Felipe earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. He obtained dual BS degrees, Summa Cum Laude, in Manufacturing Engineering and Management at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
