Most of our knowledge about innovation is drawn from the study of enterprises, but there is another level of looking at innovation – in terms of societies. We can’t leave it to neo-classical economists and a few political scientists to determine how we should think about large-scale innovation. Innovation prowess is no longer proportionate to landmass, GDP, and population. Singapore, a country the size of greater Chicago with no natural resources to speak of, is now vying to be a powerhouse of innovation.
